Candace Sams Archive #9

The Candace Sams Affair: The Archived Version (Part 9),
For all whom are curious, this is a word for word posting of everything that was said during the Candace Sams affair on amazon. I altered none of what was said. The only things I changed were some html that had been attatched to the word document that had come from the amazon page. (And I took that out because it was bloody hard to post here on lj.)

I bear no ill will towards the author. This was not posted in order to either boost or lower her sales. This is here to educate writers, both new & veteran on how not to respond to a negative review.

I don't know, Ridely...it's the same dozen or so idiots posting over and over. And, if they're laughing at me...at least they aren't laughing at others. I'm guessing that if they's ""laugh"" at anyone, then their opinions aren't that important, are they.

I told you I love this woman, the ego just drips from her... Oh my goodness. Just so you don't think I'm wandering off with my tail between my legs, madam, you will see no further posts from me after this. That is how important you are to me. I hope you can get over this, and manage to have a nice evening later. ""Good night"" all. Hehehe... and good luck getting her to listen to anything you say.

That's because do many of you are posting with such vindictive haste, that's it's hard to keep up. Try to remember, Boo...there's only one of me...about a dozen of you. I didn't call out any reinforcements. I'm not asking friends or readers to take this attack.

Is it over? I hope not. This is better than Laurell K. Hamilton's 'Dear Negative Reader' blog. It's been awhile since an author had a really good meltdown.

Did you have something to say, bgn or are you one of those who has not useful purpose on this site?

Oh...and while I'm at it...what are you all so afraid of that you won't let others see my comments? How true to character.
Brilliant people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. Small people talk about other people.

We have money to spend on books and other goods. Our purpose on this site is far more useful than yours. Why don't you go write another book no one will like or buy so you can expedite your fade into obscurity?

According to all of you, I'm already in obscurity...hence all the very similar and unimaginative posts. Oddly though...you find me just present enough to make comments that have nothing to do with the situation.

@swarovski

If you had followed the link I supplied, you would know that there's a photograph of Harriet Klausner (and her stack and stacks of books) accompanying the Time article. They interviewed her *in person.* I have spoken with her *in person.* I know other people who know and love Harriett and talk with her all the time.

Just because you can't read that fast doesn't mean nobody else can. Harriett exists, and she lives to read. Her reviews are all positive because if she's not enjoying a book, she lays it aside and goes on to something more enjoyable - and she doesn't write reviews for books she doesn't enjoy enough to finish.

But all that aside, whether you appreciate or agree with Harriett's reviews or not, they do absolutely *no* harm to anyone. The fact that some people resort to lies and misinformation to attack her says more about those individuals than it does about Harriett.

I, too, can confirm that Harriet is a real person. But she obviously does not read all the books she reviews nor write all the reviews herself. Anyone who reads her reviews can see that obvious fact that by the numerous factual errors and the inconsistent writing style. Her erroneous reviews are harming people if they convince others to spend money on worthless book. (And if authors like Candace Sams are convinced that Harriet's reviews are worth anything). But this isn't the place to argue about the infamous HK.
